Frequently Asked Questions
Type of Experiences
What types of helicopter flight experiences do you offer?
We provide a variety of helicopter flight experiences, trial flying lessons and simulator lessons. Each experience is designed to offer a unique perspective
and unforgettable adventure.
What is the difference between the R22 and R44?
The Robinson R22 is a two-seat helicopter, ideal for one-on-one experiences and
perfect for those seeking an intimate introduction to flying. The R44, a larger four-seat helicopter, provides a roomier cabin and a more powerful performance, making it a fantastic option for shared experiences or those who prefer added space and comfort.
Can I request a custom flight route?
We’re are happy to fly over any local point requested, as long as return travel is within the flight duration.

Yes! We offer gift vouchers that make perfect presents for
friends and family. These vouchers can be redeemed for a variety of flight
experiences and can even be emailed direct to the recipient with your own personalised message.

Vouchers are non-refundable 14 days after purchase. If a flight is
delayed due to weather or technical issues, we will rebook at no extra cost. To reschedule, you must provide at least two weeks’ notice; otherwise, your
voucher will be considered redeemed.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my flight?
Safety is our top priority. If the weather conditions are unsuitable for flying, we will reschedule your flight for a later date at no additional cost.

Passenger Requirements
Is there a weight limit for passengers?
For safety reasons, weight limits apply and vary by helicopter model. Typically, individual passengers should weigh no more than 15 stone (210 lbs) for flights in an R22 and no more than 21 stone (300 lbs) for
flights in an R44 or R66. Please contact us if you are unsure.
Do I need any prior experience to enjoy a trial flying lesson?
No prior experience is needed! Our trial lessons are suitable for beginners, and our expert pilots will guide you through every step
of the process.
Are there any age or health restrictions?
Passengers must be at least 14
years old for trial flying lessons. All participants should be in good health. If you have specific concerns, please contact us prior to booking.
During Your Experience
Where are you located, and where do the flights take off from?
All experiences take place at our Sywell Aerodrome Headquarters in Northamptonshire.
What should I expect during the experience?
- Meet Your Instructor: Begin with a warm welcome and meet-and-greet with your experienced flight instructor, who will guide you through the entire session.
- Pre-Flight Briefing: Learn the basics of helicopter light and the controls in an engaging pre-flight briefing, preparing you to take the helm.
- Take to the Skies: After a safety briefing and settling into the helicopter, you’ll start your flight. Your instructor will handle the takeoff while you “follow through” on the controls. Once you’re comfortable, you’ll take charge, practicing basic flight maneuvers and even experiencing unique helicopter capabilities like hovering and autorotation (engine-off flight).
- Landing and Certificate: Back on the ground, celebrate your achievement with a certificate commemorating your first helicopter flying lesson—an experience you’ll never forget.
What should I wear for my flight experience?
We recommend comfortable clothing and flat shoes. Avoid loose items like scarves, and tie back long hair for safety. A headset will be provided during the flight.
How long does a typical flight experience last?
Flight durations vary depending on the package you choose. They typically last around 30 to 60 minutes, excluding a short briefing.
How many people can fly in one helicopter?
Our helicopters can accommodate up to 4 passengers, depending on the specific aircraft and package purchase. For larger groups, we can arrange multiple flights and recommend you contact us directly to discuss your specific requirements.
Can I take photos or videos during the flight?
Yes, you’re welcome to take photos or videos during your experience. However, ensure
your device is secured to avoid any safety risks.
